From Loralee
Johnson, Loma Kennels:
I sent in the information for Xena to be involved in the Rottweiler Longevity Study in November when she turned 13.
Dr. Waters from Purdue is the one who is doing the study. There were 140 dogs involved in the study and 15 were
still alive, so Dr. Waters did a Gray Muzzle Tour and went across the United States to visit, exam and study
these 15 dogs. I felt very honored for Xena to be one of those 15 dogs that Dr. Waters came to visit. During the
visit, he played with Xena first and gave her lots of love and then did a full exam, then took her outside to watch her move.
The visit was about 3 - 3.5 hours long. It was very interesting to hear Dr. Waters talk and to realize how passionate
he is about his work and to study these dogs and to hopefully help all of our dogs live longer. Wouldn't that be great
if we could all have our dogs stay with us much longer than the average dogs do? I've attached a picture of Dr.
Waters and Xena during his visit.
